Introduction
Urban computing is an interdisciplinary field which pertains to the study and application of computing technology in urban areas. It employes many of the paradigms introduced by ubiquitous computing in that collections of devices are used to gather data about the urban environment to help improve the quality of life for people affected by cities. With the rapid development of Internet of Things and Cloud Computing, intelligent sensing paradigms play an increasingly significant role in urban computing. By leveraging physical process models and machine learning algorithms, intelligent sensing has enabled urban computing systems to harness rich knowledges from heterogeneous ubiquitous sensors, including crowdsensing participants, Wi-Fi CSI signals, taxi and bike trajectories, 3D laser point cloud, and remote-sensing imageries. The design, construction and verification of urban computing systems with intelligent sensing paradigms pose a multitude of technical challenges that must be addressed by a cross-disciplinary community of researchers.
The goal of this workshop is to provide a forum for researchers and practitioners to discuss and share their research and development experiences. We welcome contributions within a broad range of intelligent sensing and urban computing research, including transportation, environment, healthcare, energy, and social interactions. Our goal is to have a single-track meeting with lively scientific discussions and fruitful exchange of views.
